Jeannie M. Whayne is chair of the History Department and professor of history at the University of Arkansas, editor of the Arkansas Historical Quarterly, and the author or co-author of numerous books, including the award-winning A New Plantation South: Land, Labor, and Federal Favor in the Twentieth Century Arkansas.
